Just because you are scared of the dark, it cannot always be light.
If there is anything the past years have taught us, is just how easily things can be turned on their heads. The COVID 19 Pandemic laid bare for us the fragility of joy and in our own little sphere one of the hardest hit was our automotive way of life. Events prohibited, meet-ups restricted and time turned into a precious commodity at the height of curfews. The car scene laid there, a casualty of this unforeseen darkness. Lost, forgotten, dead.
Yet as the gears of time keep turning, something arises from behind this veil of dormancy. A flicker of life. A whiff of hope. From the ashes of what once was, we have been Revived.
One cannot begin to describe the excitement of the first poster. We’re back! Location set, date confirmed and is that a resurgence of enthusiasm I feel? Well, if the numbers have anything to say, indeed it is. After what has felt like an eternity, the car community has once again been gathered into a singular spot, flooded with familiar faces, good vibes and a lineup of vehicles that certainly did not leave anyone wanting for diversity.
From crisp OEM specification machines to highly modified weaponry that would leave the manufacturer’s engineers screaming profanities in bewilderment, a meet of this magnitude really does wonders to showcase vehicles and drivers from all walks of life. When is the last time you’ve seen a lifted Toyota Tundra, a monstrous race prepped Nissan Pulsar GTI-R and a devilishly clean Toyota Vitz RS occupy the same area? I’ll wait, and those examples barely scratched the surface. I could ramble on forever about each and every vehicle that graced our eyes but the pictures accompanying this will do all that talking for me.
Now eventful, it may not have been. Perhaps you were awaiting the roar of engines as they battled for decibel dominance, or the scream of tires as they yielded to levels of torque they simply could not counter as a ‘nasty stick and burn’ commenced. The absence of such things however, may have been for the best. This was not the time to raise adrenaline, no. It was a time to remember what once was, to remember that we are a community and to remember that so long as there is breath in our lungs that this culture will never die.
Even the brightest flames begin with a spark.
