Evans’ Legacy

Subaru, commonly known for their deep rooted seating in the rally racing community. Almost synonymous for all wheel drive, turbocharged and more boxing power than Floyd Mayweather… so to speak. It’s because of this stable platform which Subaru has cemented in their signature that has enabled them to produce other models with similar traits that make you question the manufacturer. “What were they thinking?” But anyway, lets see how this plays out.

They have catered for a wide array of enthusiasts, but let’s face it guys, some of our favourite sports cars through the years weren’t the most comfortable as we would have preffered, but you can’t have it all. Or can you?

So the begining of that problem solving energy would then be manifested in what Subaru calls its Legacy. With so many years of modeling, designing and R&D (Research and Development) put into these cars, it’s no wonder this model stands out. Very few people knew this car existed, with only a limited number made and the Japanese keeping them mostly to themselves. Just what breed of Legacy are we ranting about?

A 2007 facelift Legacy GT Spec.B equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission , Subaru’s Sport Intelligent Drive System, an engine rating of 280 BHP, STi front strut bar, lowered from stock height, all finished with a set of Enkei GTC 01 lightweight racing wheels; Subaru’s elite flagship luxury sports sedan. Wow! That was a mouth full. But wait, who drives these things?

Well, apparently I do. The car is a bit different than anything else I’ve driven. The power delivery on first attempt was definitely a unique experience, aggressive, yet still encompassed its luxurious traits, as if its tamed but has a surging sea of untapped potential. Fuel consumption is as expected of an AWD turbocharged vehicle, so you won’t get what you would expect from a Prius. However, its fuel economy is only as good as your self discipline as the driver. The ability to switch between driving modes is one of my favourite things about the car; Daily driver, street/track performance and what I like to call warp drive – Intellegent, Sport, Sport# respectfully. With its smooth curves and executive-like aura, don’t be mislead. It is by no means anything short of pure savagery.

All in all it is a well rounded daily with everything I expected it to be. However, they say the biggest room in a house is the room for improvement. I have some interesting plans for this one.
